Facebook Debugger Tool: How to Use

How to Use the Facebook Debugger Tool: Have you ever posted a link to a blog post or a page from your website into a Facebook post and had the OLD featured image come up in the preview box?

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order for Facebook to PULL IN the right image, you have to have the image you want uploaded as that page or posts Featured Image or Social Sharing Image (depends on how your website is set up). It can’t pull in the right image from that URL if you don’t have that image in the right spot for it to pull from 🙂

  1. This info is great. I will embed it on my new website in the "How To" section. Please let me know if you don't want that to happen. thanks

  2. Thank you so much, this was so helpful, I had created a post and it wouldnt pull the right picture in, I actually had to go back into the post and update the photo, then scrub and just like magic, it happened. 🙂

  3. Everytime I try to use facebook debugger for my clients website. The response code shows 200. However the image is missing and the images is the correct file. However clicking “See exactly what our scraper has collected for your URL”. The page has nothing (just blank)

Clearing cache doesn’t do anything. Googling “Facebook Debugger not fetching the correct info” barely yields a clue to fixing this issue.

  4. darn this doesn't work for me. It doesn't pull up an image at all. I tested the link in an email and it loads the preview in emails just not facebook. All it does is show the url

  5. It doesn't work for me. I'm desperate with frustration that a site as big as Facebook, with all its resources, has these problems.
